(6-15-2014, this should have been a blog post, not a page post. Oops!)
We wove our way through the shallows of the NJ shore again today. The density of population here astounds us. The houses are densely packed on the barrier islands and unlike in Florida, they’re built right at sea level and often out into the water. No wonder Hurricane Sandy wrecked such havoc here.
It was a windy day, so we’re glad we were on the inside, not out in the ocean. Rich did a great job of following the markers along the circuitous route. We haven’t grounded in NJ yet even though we are challenged to stay in a very narrow channel dug into the bays.
We’re anchored again tonight. Tomorrow we reach the end of the NJ ICW and must wait for a good weather day for the ocean run to NYC.
